DeLauro: 1,000 Americans Gave Their Lives
WASHINGTON - Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn.-3) today released the following statement on the news that to date, 1,000 U.S. military personnel have died while on active duty in Iraq.
"Today's news - that 1,000 U.S. military personnel have been killed in action in Iraq - is a painful reminder of the tremendous sacrifice that has been made by our troops and their families. I am proud of the work that our troops have done. My heart goes out to the families and friends who have lost loved ones in this war, and to the thousands of sailors, airmen, soldiers and marines who have been wounded in conflict.
"It reminds us more than ever that we must have a plan to win the peace."
