Price Statement on the Protect Life Act

Issues: Abortion

House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Tom Price, M.D. (R-GA) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed H.R. 358 -- the Protect Life Act -- to ensure no taxpayer dollars are used to fund abortions.

"Today, House Republicans upheld our pledge to honor the concerns of the majority of Americans and ensure that no hard-earned taxpayer dollars are used for abortions. This is a fundamental step in our efforts to protect the sanctity of life," said Chairman Price. "Within the President's health care law are loopholes inconsistent with the will of the American people that will allow for taxpayer funding of abortion services. That our Democrat colleagues refused to include a true ban on taxpayer funding of abortions in the final draft of their health care law speaks to the fundamental flaws in their entire approach. As we continue our efforts for a full repeal of ObamaCare, it is essential that we ensure no taxpayer dollars are used in this manner."
