Issue Position

I am a pro-life candidate. I oppose abortion except in cases of reported rape, incest or when an abortion is necessary to save the life of the mother.

Further, I support the Parental Notification law, which requires that a parent, grandparent or court-appointed guardian be notified when an abortion is to be performed on an unemancipated minor. I believe that the law should be enforced in Illinois; it has languished in the courts for 14 years because of delaying tactics of its opponents.

The law was passed by the General Assembly in 1995. All the States surrounding Illinois have a parental notification or parental consent law in force, and Illinois should, too.
