Fighting for Our Veterans: Landry Demands Accountability on Clinics

In response to the Administration's decision to cancel construction of health clinics for the veterans of Acadiana, Congressman Jeff Landry (R, LA-03) is demanding accountability and transparency from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Landry, a veteran of Desert Storm, sent a letter to VA Secretary Eric Shinseki calling for the Department to explain reasons for the cancelation and guarantee Southwest Louisiana will have health clinics for its heroes.

Citing the cancellation cause as technical errors made by the VA -- Landry demanded Shineski provide detailed answers on the accountability of the errors and the assurances of an expedited, transparent process moving forward.

"Our local veteran community deserves more from you and your department. We need to get these facilities up and running so we can service our veterans in need. For those who have given much, we should honor them with the care they deserve," wrote Landry.

Landry will take his fight directly to Shinseki on Tuesday as he will join Senators Mary Landrieu (D, LA) and David Vitter (R, LA) in a meeting with the Secretary on Capitol Hill.
