Landry Again Urges Swift Construction of VA Clinics

Responding to the Veterans Affairs (VA) latest timeline on the health clinics for Southwest Louisiana, Congressman Jeff Landry (R, LA-03) is again calling on the VA to utilize an accelerated funding approach to ensure Acadiana's veterans get the care they deserve as quickly as possible. Congressman Landry wrote the VA today highlighting their previous commitment to discuss the sole source procurement strategy and requesting use of this expedited authority.

"41 U.S.C. § 3304(a)(7) allows a federal entity to use this expedited procurement authority when it is "necessary in the public interest.' I can think of no federal project in South Louisiana that carries a greater necessity than quick construction of these facilities," wrote Congressman Landry.

Landry, a veteran who has four veterans on his staff, is hopeful the VA will promptly respond to his request: "America should honor her veterans with the care they deserve," said Congressman Landry. "I hope my letter will get the VA to finally answer whether they believe quick construction of Southwest Louisiana health clinics is of public necessity. I know it is and will continue to do all I can to ensure the health needs of our veterans in Southwest Louisiana are met immediately."
