Hayworth Statement on May Jobs Report

Statement

Date: June 1, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

US Representative Nan Hayworth, M.D. (NY-19) released the following statement today regarding the latest unemployment report released by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics.

"Today's stock-market debacle reflects what the morning's dismal jobs report confirms: the policies of the last three years under President Obama's leadership have failed. We're now in the fourth year of trillion-dollar-plus federal deficits and we're facing a dangerous fiscal cliff as of January 2013--and our businesses, employers, and entrepreneurs aren't able to create enough jobs because right now they're simply trying to survive an Administration that is determined to punish them with higher taxes and masses of new regulations. We can and must do better, starting with setting a federal budget--as only the House has done--to make the goverment live within its means, as Hudson Valley families are finding increasingly hard to do. I'll continue to do all I can to assure that our economy can grow by restraining federal spending, lifting regulatory burdens, and making taxes lower and fairer. The House is ready and working; we need the Senate and the President to do the same."
