Democratic candidate for Pennsylvania's Eighth Congressional District Kathy Boockvar called today for the extension of the federal Production Tax Credits to save Bucks County jobs. Gamesa, a wind energy company whose North American headquarters is in Middletown, has announced that later this summer it will eliminate 92 jobs at its Falls production plant, as well as laying off 73 workers from its Cambria County plant. Gamesa cited the expiration of the tax credits at the end of this year as a significant factor in the downsizing.

"Companies, and the jobs that they create for our workers, depend on these tax credits," Boockvar reacted. "How can our Republican Congress continue to prioritize tax breaks and protections for big oil and gas companies, while neglecting essential incentives to cutting edge energy solutions? Workers right here in Bucks County are losing their jobs because Congress won't do theirs."

Boockvar continued, "Tax credits for clean and renewable energy are good for small businesses, of which we have many here in the 8th district, it's good for our jobs and economy, it's good for our environment, and it reduces our reliance on foreign fuels. This is the kind of smart, forward-thinking energy strategy that I will fight for as Representative of the Eight District."
