Common sense farmer Lee Anderson was declared the winner today of the August 21 Republican Primary run-off election. Following the certification of votes by the Secretary of State's office, Anderson's opponent, Rick Allen, requested a recount. After today's recount, Anderson was officially declared the Republican nominee, winning by 159 votes.

"Now is the time for common sense conservatives in Georgia's 12th Congressional District to work together to stop the Obama-Barrow agenda that's saddling our children and grandchildren with debt and threatening the future of our country," said Anderson.

"I congratulate Rick Allen, Wright McLeod, and Maria Sheffield for running tough races and we welcome them on board the unified Republican team devoted to holding Washington politicians like John Barrow to task for gutting Medicare, stifling job creation, and bankrupting America.

"Together, we can send Barack Obama and John Barrow packing and make sure that America's brightest days are still ahead."
