Griffin: Asking "Americans about Their Prayers' Is Wrong

Statement

Date: June 4, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02), a member of the Ways and Means Committee, issued the following statement after today's hearing on the Internal Revenue Service's (IRS) targeting of conservative groups:

"What we're seeing is a distant, ever-growing and almost unlimited federal government that in many instances means well but is all too often unresponsive. Some have argued the IRS' mistakes resulted from a lack of training. Does the IRS really need training to know it's wrong to ask Americans about their prayers? We don't need more training -- we need fundamental tax reform that protects taxpayers and helps America compete and win."
