Issue Position: Improving Transportation and Infrastructure

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2013

We all know Virginia has a transportation problem. A recent report listed the Northern Virginia region as the most congested area in the nation, with Hampton Roads not far behind. The hours people spend in traffic each day is time away from work, family, or recreational activities. And, cars idling on our highways leads to high levels of pollution. Addressing our transportation problems not only will ease traffic, but will ultimately lead to better air quality. That's why I led the effort in the General Assembly to secure $300 million in additional state funding for the Dulles Rail Project in Northern Virginia and authored the Virginia Telework Tax Credit to encourage companies to set up telework programs. As Attorney General, I will promote and enforce laws to fix transportation so people can get moving again, and to improve our air quality.
