Salmon Statement on Iran Nuclear Agreement

Today, Rep. Matt Salmon (AZ-05) released the following statement regarding the interim, six-month Iranian nuclear agreement:

"I have deep concerns regarding last night's news that the negotiators have reached an agreement on the future of Iran's dangerous nuclear program.

"Reportedly, this agreement proposes a six month freeze of the Iranian enrichment program and in return Iran will receive over $6 billion in sanctions relief.

"Unfortunately, Iran has proven itself time and time again to be untrustworthy when making deals and there has been no concrete proof that they have changed their tune this time around. Lifting the sanctions that are proving successful without dismantling the Iranian nuclear program is not good for America's national interest or the interests of our allies in the region."
