Rep. Ellison Statement on MNsure Reaching Enrollment Goal

Statement

Date: March 25, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) released the following statement after it was reported that MNsure, Minnesota's health insurance exchange created by the Affordable Care Act, reached its goal of enrolling 135,000 people.

"I'm proud MNsure reached its enrollment goal ahead of schedule for the 2014 open enrollment period. Despite facing some initial problems, MNsure is helping thousands of Minnesotans find affordable health insurance plans.

"A successful MNsure means Minnesotans can focus on their health. It means a preexisting condition won't stop patients from getting the care they need. It means women won't pay more for insurance just because they're women. It means parents can keep kids on their plan until they're twenty-six. It means free preventive care to keep people healthy.

"That's why we passed the Affordable Care Act four years ago and that's why I am excited for the Minnesotans who now have the affordable health care coverage they need."
