Dr. Benishek: Obama Must Follow the Rule of Law

Statement

Dr. Dan Benishek (MI-01) released the following statement in support of Speaker Boehner's plans to file suit against President Obama for his failure to faithfully execute the laws of the United States:

"The United States Constitution tasks the Executive Branch with faithfully executing the laws of our country that are established by Congress. Unfortunately, there have been far too many examples of the president using executive orders to either circumvent the intent of a law or impose new policies without the approval of Congress. The most egregious examples are being seen with the implementation of President Obama's health care law. I will always support efforts to ensure the three branches of government maintain the equal powers granted in the Constitution. The President must never be able to make unilateral decisions about enforcing some laws, but not others."
