"OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL THREATENS OUR NATIONAL SECURITY AND MAKES US VULNERABLE TO DANGEROUS DICTATORSHIPS."

I propose making America energy self-sufficient. This is about tapping America's energy to create American prosperity and American security. Ensuring a consistent and steady supply of affordable energy is fundamental to building a strong economy and creating jobs.

I support an "all of the above" plan. We need more energy at a lower cost on almost every front. We need to try it all and we need to try it now. U.S. oil and natural gas should be a part of our energy plans, and we must take steps to develop these resources in addition to alternatives such as nuclear, solar, wind, and geothermal power.

We should encourage U.S. energy producers to build more refineries in America to lower the cost of gas for American families and reduce our dependence on foreign oil. With the right safeguards to protect the environment, we should be exploring for our own oil all along our coastlines, and for oil shale in the Rockies.

Additionally, we should reward those who conserve our natural resources, which is why I support tax incentives for those who make their home, car, or business more energy efficient.

We must avoid saddling our economy with increased costs in the form of a cap and trade program or higher energy taxes. We need to incentivize our energy producers, which is why I support measures which would reduce the price of gasoline by:

decreasing unnecessary government regulations.
promoting the development of existing American energy resources.
expanding the use of alternative forms of energy.
