Not Again!

Statement

Date: Sept. 17, 2014
Issues: Women Abortion

I don't get it. In 2008, and again in 2010, Coloradans firmly, definitively, and without any doubt rejected the so-called "Personhood" measure which appeared on the Colorado ballot. Now, for a third time, ultra-conservative advocates for this misguided policy have managed to get it on the ballot in Colorado again.

There's no mistaking Amendment 67 -- it is "Personhood," and it is bad for women and bad for Colorado. It would endanger the lives of women, limit our ability to perform important medical research, criminalize miscarriage, and potentially ban many common forms of contraception. There is no covering up what this law intends: to take away women's ability to make their own health care decisions.

I'm proud to stand up for women, and for common sense. I believe these kinds of decisions should be between a woman and her doctor. I will always fight to protect a woman's right to make her own health care decisions.

If that's what you want from your representative in Congress, please support my re-election campaign today.
