Rep. Carolyn McCarthy issued the following statement on the occasion of the upcoming Rosh Hashanah holiday:

"Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, is an opportunity to look back with reflection and plan ahead for the New Year.

With the recent violence across the Middle East and Israel's security under constant threat, it's more important than ever that Americans unite with our closest and most important ally in the region. Regardless of our religious beliefs, the people of Israel should be included in our prayers during this critical time in their nation's history. There is still much work to be done, but I am hopeful that one day Israelis will be able to live in peace, free from the threat of terrorism.

With warmth, sincerity and gratitude, I wish you and your family a happy New Year, L'Shana Tova!"
