Today, the U.S. House passed H.R. 7, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act of 2015. Congressman Hice released the following statement in response to the passage of the measure:
"Today, I was proud to join my colleagues in passing this legislation, which is so very important in terms of advancing the pro-life movement. This bill helps to address some of the most damaging parts of Obamacare, and ensures that none of the nearly $726 billion of Obamacare subsidies will fund elective abortion coverage."
Additionally, Congressman Hice announced the introduction of H.R. 426, the Sanctity of Human Life Act. The Sanctity of Human Life Act defines life as beginning at fertilization; extending to all people through the Constitution that life is a fundamental right. Hice, who authored H.R. 426 on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, released the following statement:
"I am pleased to be joined by many of my colleagues from Georgia, who are original co-sponsors of the Sanctity of Human Life measure, in rightly defining life as beginning at conception. This is the most conservative piece of pro-life legislation introduced so far in this Congress, and I look forward to continuing my commitment to protecting the rights of the unborn."
