Stutzman Supports the Keystone XL Pipeline

Statement

Date: Jan. 9, 2015
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Oil and Gas

U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman issued this statement following his support for H.R. 3, the Keystone XL Pipeline Act, sponsored by Representative Kevin Cramer. The bill passed 266-153.

"Today, I voted to approve the construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline. Not only will this project strengthen the American economy by creating tens of thousands of jobs, but it will also bring up to $2 billion in revenue throughout the U.S. The Obama administration's own State Department has confirmed that it meets environmental standards and earlier this morning the Nebraska Supreme Court approved the proposed route for the building of this pipeline. There is simply no reason to further delay moving forward.

"The longer we wait, the more time foreign countries have to compete for energy sources in Canada. For several years, the American people have overwhelmingly supported Keystone, but the White House and Senate Democrats have stood in the way. Now is the time to put politics aside and approve a project that is long overdue for our country."
