Yesterday, Congresswoman Alma Adams [NC-12] co-sponsored H.R. 460, The Human Trafficking Detection Act, along with Republican Congressman Mark Walker of North Carolina.

"Ending human trafficking is a bipartisan issue and it must remain a priority; that is why I am co-sponsoring H.R. 460 with my colleague from North Carolina, Congressman Mark Walker," said Rep. Adams. "The bill we voted on yesterday will improve collaboration between government agencies, cut down on human trafficking, and better protect victims," continued Adams.

"Time and time again, we hear terrible stories of violence, death, and trauma being perpetrated against innocent men, women and children who have been bought and sold through organized crime rings and even terrorist organizations," said Adams. "Since 2007, 2,074 calls and 433 cases have been reported in North Carolina to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center. The statistics are very troubling. As members of Congress, we must stand up for justice and human dignity," said Adams. "I am committed to giving a voice to the victims in our state and abroad," concluded Adams.
