Lance Statement on the President's Request for an Authorization for the Use of Military Force

Statement

Date: Feb. 11, 2015
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Defense

Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) today released the following statement in response to the President's proposed Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) to combat ISIS:

"ISIS has committed heinous crimes against American citizens and our allies and will undoubtedly attempt more acts of war against the United States and our interests. I believe any authorization of military force must lay out a comprehensive military strategy to defeat this enemy. The Congress will now begin public hearings and conduct rigorous oversight to determine if the President's request today meets this standard and provides U.S. military commanders and our troops in the field with the tools to implement an effective and robust strategy to combat radical Islamist terrorists."
