Today, Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) released the following statement after voting for a bipartisan bill to fully fund the Department of Homeland Security:

"I am glad that Speaker Boehner and House Republicans finally put forth a clean bipartisan bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security for the remainder of the year," said Representative Adams.

"Now, more than ever, we need a well-funded and fully functioning Department of Homeland Security. We are facing global threats and the threat of lone wolf attacks here at home is becoming more and more real. Approving this funding was critical," continued Adams.

"Moving forward, I hope that House Republicans learn from this and understand that the American people do not want, nor can we afford, another government shutdown. Our number one priority as elected representatives is to protect the well-being of our constituents and not allow partisan politics to neglect this key responsibility," concluded Adams.
