Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX) issued the following statement after voting against the seven day continuing resolution that allows the President's immigration executive order to move forward:
"The facts haven't changed. The President's executive action on immigration is unconstitutional and this legislation doesn't do anything to stop it. I can't in good faith vote for something that goes against the Constitution -- not for a week, a day or even an hour. Americans will be safe even if a small number of non-essential employees from DHS are temporarily sidelined. In my mind, fully supporting the Constitution is more important than the minor short term effects this debate has on one government department."
