Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05) released the following statement today after the U.S. House of Representatives, with all Democrats opposing, passed a resolution limiting the functions of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and making it more difficult for workers to organize:
"This resolution is nothing more than another partisan attack on the rights of hard-working Americans. Republicans have insisted that they have an obligation to govern for all Americans--yet instead of fighting for the priorities of hard-working American families, they're limiting the rights of American workers. Michiganders have seen firsthand what happens when government strips the rights of organized workers, and they don't like it.
"The NLRB plays a critical role in insuring that both workers and employers have a level playing field that can create jobs, boost wages and protect the American dream. By undermining the NLRB, this resolution would only make it more difficult for workers to bargain for better pay and working conditions. Hard-working Americans would have nowhere to turn to ensure that their rights are protected. Instead of seeking to undermine a streamlined democratic process for American workers, Congress should join the President in strengthening protections for American workers and giving them a strong voice in the workplace and our economy."
