McKinley Statement on Export-Import Bank Reauthorization

Statement

Date: May 21, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman David B. McKinley, P.E., (WV-1) released the following statement on reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank:

"It is clear the Export-Import Bank is flawed and should not get a clean reauthorization without substantial reforms. Serious questions have been raised about its loans and the potential for abuse. The Bank is supposed to put small businesses, like the Wheeling Truck Center, on a level playing field with foreign competitors, but instead its loans primarily benefit large corporations. Unless and until I am convinced the Export-Import Bank will be reformed with a focus on helping small businesses, I oppose any reauthorization."

Without Congressional action, the Export-Import Bank's authority to make new loans expires on June 30, 2015.
