Today, Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-34) announced that Volunteers of America -- Los Angeles (VOALA), People Assisting The Homeless (PATH), and New Directions, Inc. received $1.8 million in federal grants from the U.S. Department of Labor to help homeless veterans in Los Angeles overcome homelessness and secure employment.

"In Los Angeles, federal and local partners are collaborating to reduce veteran homelessness, but there is much work to be done," said Congressman Becerra. "These grants from the Department of Labor will enable local veteran-serving organizations to continue the good work they do to help our veterans secure employment and housing. Let's continue all our efforts to ensure that the men and women who have put on our uniform receive all the support they deserve."

The grants received by VOALA, PATH, and New Directions are part of the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program which awards funds competitively to state and local workforce investment boards, local public agencies, tribal governments, and nonprofit organizations, including faith-based and community organizations.
