Today, Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-34), Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, joined his House Democratic colleagues to file an Amicus Brief in support of the Obama Administration's appeal in the Fifth Circuit case of Texas v. United States:

"I am proud to stand in unity with my House Democratic colleagues and call on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals to allow President Obama's immigration executive actions to move forward. The President's constitutional actions to effectively enforce our nation's immigration laws are consistent with previous actions taken by presidents of both parties.

"We are confident that the Fifth Circuit will reverse the lower court's ruling and remove the block on the implementation of the President's deferred action programs. And when it does, Los Angeles and California families and businesses will gain from the DACA and DAPA programs, including more than $1.1 billion in new tax revenue in Los Angeles County and more than $3.8 billion statewide. In addition to supporting these actions, Congress must step up to the plate for our economy, our security and our families by finally passing commonsense immigration reform."
