Should the words 'sexual orientation, gender identity' be added to Idaho's fair employment, housing, education & public accommodation law?

Interview

No. While I believe in being respectful to everyone, the true effect of "adding the words" would not be what its supporters claim. Similar laws in other states have been used to persecute people of faith and punishing them for acting according to the dictates of their conscience in refusing to participate in or endorse a lifestyle they believe to be morally wrong. "Add the words" provisions have been used to shutter wedding venues, fine florists, and even force the Christian owner of a T-shirt shop to attend diversity training after he wouldn't print gay pride T-shirts. While America is supposed to give everyone the freedom to believe as they choose, "add the words" measures are being used to dogmatically impose only one belief system on the public with regard to homosexual behavior.
