Title: Increases Hotel Tax

Vote to pass a bill that increases the transient lodging tax rate.

Highlights:

  • Increases the transient lodging tax from 1 percent to the following amounts (Secs. 1-4):
    • 1.8 percent from July 1, 2016 to July 1, 2020; and
    • 1.5 percent after July 1, 2020.
  • Requires the Oregon Tourism Commission to appropriate transient tax revenue funds to the following programs (Sec. 5):
    • At least 65 percent of funds to state tourism programs;
    • 10 percent of funds to a competitive grant program; and
    • 20 percent of funds to a regional cooperative tourism program.

NOTE: A THREE-FIFTHS MAJORITY OF THOSE PRESENT AND VOTING IS REQUIRED TO PASS A REVENUE BILL.
