Vote to pass a bill that authorizes the sale of consumer fireworks.

Highlights:

• Prohibits the suspension of the use of fireworks unless the fire marshal determines that it would constitute a threat to public safety (Sec. 2).

• Requires the fire marshal to establish minimum requirements for the issuance of a consumer fireworks seller’s license for retailers or community groups (Sec. 3).

• Establishes a $1,000 annual fee for every retailer who devotes more than 50% of a permanent building to the sale of class 1 fireworks and a $500 fee for every retailer who devotes less than 50% of their sales floor to class 1 fireworks (Sec. 3).
