Vote to pass a bill that increases the minimum wage to $15 per hour, effective January 1, 2024.

Highlights:

 

  • Requires a gradual increase of the minimum wage to $15 per hour on the following schedule (Sec. 1):

    • $11.10 per hour in 2019;

    • $11.75 per hour in 2020;

    • $12.50 per hour in 2021;

    • $13.25 per hour in 2022;

    • $14.10 per hour in 2023; and

    • $15.00 per hour in 2024.

  • Prohibits employers from imposing any deductions or fees on tips left for workers, including tips left by credit card, and specifies that tips are the sole property of the employee or employee for whom they were left (Sec. 1).

  • Requires the Commissioner for Children and Families to adjust the benefit scale of the child care assistance program with each minimum wage increase such that the benefit percentage remains the same (Sec. 2).

  • Requires the Legislative Council and the Joint Fiscal Office to report on mechanisms for indexing the minimum wage to inflation by January 1, 2023 (Sec. 3).
