Title: Requires Schools to Report on Use of Corporal Punishment
Vote to pass a bill that requires every local education agency in Tennessee to submit a report detailing their use of corporal punishment.
Requires, beginning with the 2018-2019 school year, each local education agency (LEA) to submit, at least annually, a report to the Department of Education on the number of instances corporal punishment was used and the reason for each instance (Sec. 1).
Requires the report to include whether each instance involved a student with an active individualized education program or an active 504 plan (Sec. 1).
Requires the Department of Education to provide this information on its website each year (Sec. 1).
Prohibits all reports from including any personal information, as stipulated in the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (Sec. 1).
