Title: Establishes Commission to Study Lead in Drinking Water at Schools
Vote to pass a bill that establishes a commission to study lead in drinking water at schools and early childhood centers.
Establishes a Commission to study the remediation of lead levels in drinking water for all public and private schools and center-based child care facilities in the state (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the Commission will develop a report containing the following, including, but not limited to (Sec. 1):
The different evidence-based measures and methods for lead testing;
The appropriate levels of lead in water to be accepted;
The estimated cost of implementing each of the testing and remediation measures; and
The feasibility and limitations of each type of remediation and lead testing.
Requires that the Commission file a report with the following offices no later than 14 months after the enactment date of this act, including, but not limited to (Sec. 1):
The Office of the Governor;
The Commissioner of the Department of Public Health;
The Commissioner of the Department of Education and Secondary Education; and
Both Clerk Offices of the State Senate and House of Representatives.
