Vote to pass a bill that extends the requirement for 100 percent cage-free egg production from 2020 to 2025.

Highlights:

  • Prohibits the sale of any shell egg for human consumption if the egg was produced by an egg-laying hen that was confined on a farm that is not in compliance with the animal care standards for egg-laying hens beginning on October 12, 2025 (Sec. 47).

  • Authorizes the Attorney General or the Department of Agriculture to bring a civil action to restrain,  by temporary or permanent injunction, any act or practice in violation of this bill (Sec. 47).

  • Requires that by October 12, 2023, the Department to make the rules to implement the bill, including rules to provide for the collection of fees to recover the costs of administration of this bill (Sec. 47).
