Highlights:
-
Defines “informed consent” as voluntary consent to abortion by the woman upon which the procedure is to be performed or induced (Sec. 1).
-
Specifies that informed consent must be obtained at least 24 hours prior to the abortion, which will require the following, including (Sec. 1):
-
The name of the physician performing the abortion;
-
A statement that the procedure “will terminate the life of a whole, separate, unique, and living human being;”
-
Information for the patient of the medical risks involved with the abortion and carrying the child to term; and
-
Information for the patient of “the probable gestational age of the unborn child.”
-
Requires that patients are informed about the possibility of reversing the effects of a drug-induced abortion, but that “time is of the essence,” as well as where to find further information and medical assistance to that end (Sec. 2).
