Title: Requires Doctor Reporting of Abortions

Vote to concur with senate amendments and pass a bill that requires doctors report abortion procedures.

Highlights:

 

  • Requires a licensed physician report to the state office of vital records services the gestational age of an aborted fetus or embryo at the time of the abortion (Sec. 1).

  • Prohibits the report form from containing the name or address of the pregnant woman, licensed physician or any other common identifiers including, but not limited to (Sec. 1):

    • A social security number; or

    • Drivers license number.

  • Authorizes the board of medicine to take disciplinary action against any licensed physician that fails to report an abortion with 110 days of the procedure taking place (Sec. 1).

  • Specifies that the termination of a pregnancy by natural miscarriage or as treatment consequence or a natural miscarriage shall not be reported as an abortion (Sec. 1).

  • Specifies that an abortion reporting form received under this act shall not be made public record and shall not be made available except to the attorney general or the district attorney with appropriate jurisdiction (Sec. 1).

  • Requires that by June 30 of each calendar year the office of vital records services issue a public report providing a summary statistics for the previous calendar year compiled from all of the abortion reporting forms from that year (Sec. 1).
