Vote to pass a bill that expands water and wastewater infrastructure among systems utilizing reservoir water.

Highlights:

 

  • Requires the following conditions be met between a local government that serves over 5,000 customers and recipients of untreated water prior to any disbursement of loans or grants, including (Sec. 1):

    • Written approval by the governing board of the recipient and of a local government stating the current rates of purchase and anticipated increases; and

    • A resolution approved by the governing board of purchasing local government stating the local government waives its option to establish a written agreement.

  • Specifies that a Local Government Commission has 90 days to assist and provide recommendations or resolve disputes between a local government and recipients prior to the execution of a written agreement and before being appropriated any loan or grant (Sec. 1).

  • Establishes that this act shall only apply to loan and grant disbursements where the disbursement is for regionalization and recipient beneficiary of the disbursement withdraws water from a reservoir owned by the United States Army Corps of Engineers (Sec. 1).
