Title: Prohibits Drivers of Fossil Fuel-Powered Cars and Non-Charging Electric Vehicles to Park in Front of Charging Stations
A vote to pass a bill that prohibits drivers of fossil fuel-powered cars and non-charging EVs to park in front of charging stations.
Prohibits a person from parking a motor vehicle within a parking space designated for charging a plug-in electric motor vehicle, unless the motor vehicle is a plug-in electric motor vehicle and that person is charging their vehicle (Sec. 3).
Requires the owner of public or private property to install official signs that identify a parking space as a dedicated charging station, establishing that the installation operates as a waiver of any objection the owner may assert concerning enforcement of this act by a police officer (Sec. 3).
Specifies that a person who violates this act commits a class B traffic infraction and must pay a $150 penalty and a $32 surcharge (Sec. 3).
Defines “plug-in electric vehicle” as a motor vehicle that has received an acknowledgement of certification from the Internal Revenue Service that the vehicle qualifies for the plug-in electric drive vehicle credit, or any motor vehicle that can be recharged from an external source of electricity and that uses electricity stored in a rechargeable battery pack to propel or contribute to the propulsion of the vehicle’s drive wheels (Sec. 1).
Defines “official sign” as a sign identifying a parking space for electronic motor vehicle charging (Sec. 3).
