Vote to pass a bill that prohibits doctors from performing gender reassignment surgeries on children under the age of 16.

Highlights:

  • Prohibits a medical professional from engaging in any of the following practices upon a minor under the age of 16, for the purpose of changing the minor’s perception of their sex, if that perception is inconsistent with the minor’s biological sex (Sec. 2):

    • Performing the following surgeries, including:

      • Castration; 

      • Vasectomy; or

      • Hysterectomy; 

    • Performing a mastectomy; 

    • Prescribing, dispensing, administering, or otherwise supplying the following medications:

      • Puberty-blocking medication; 

      • Supraphysiologic doses of testosterone to females; 

      • Supraphysiologic doses of estrogen to males; or 

      • Removing any otherwise healthy non-diseased body part or tissue.

  • Specifies that a medical professional who is found guilty of the above prohibitions is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor (Sec. 2).
