Title: Authorizes the License Revocation of Doctors who Perform an Abortion

Vote to pass a bill that authorizes the license revocation of doctors who perform an abortion procedure.

Highlights:

 

  • Authorizes the State Board of Osteopathic Examiners to refuse to issue, reinstate, suspend, and may revoke any license issued or reinstated by the Board, upon proof that the applicant of such a license has performed an abortion (Sec. 2).

  • Exempts abortion procedures that are necessary to prevent the death of the woman or to prevent substantial or irreversible physical impairment that substantially increases the risk of death (Sec. 2).

  • Specifies that the performance of an abortion on the basis of the mental or emotional health of the woman will be grounds for denial or revocation of a medical license (Sec. 2).

  • Specifies that any physician licensed to practice medicine in the state who participates in the performance of an abortion will have their license to practice medicine suspended for a minimum of one year and will be fined a minimum of $500 (Sec. 3).
