Title: Establishes a Legal Defense Fund for Businesses
Vote to pass a bill that establishes a legal defense fund for businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Defines COVID-19-related claim as a civil liability claim against a person, including a natural person, a business entity, an educational institution, a governmental entity, or a religious institution, which arises from or is related to COVID-19 otherwise known as the novel coronavirus (Sec. 1).
Establishes immunity from civil liability for defendants to COVID-19-related claims if the defendant demonstrates that they made a good faith effort to comply with government issued authoritative statements (Sec. 1).
Specifies that unless at least gross negligence is proven by clear and convincing evidence, a defendant is not liable for any act or omission regarding a COVID-19-related claim (Sec. 1).
Requires claimants to file a claim within one year after the cause of action accrues (Sec. 1).
