Title: Requires any Method of Electronic Access to be Secured While Voting In Person

Vote to pass a bill that requires any electronic devices that are not used for voting purposes to be secured before voters submit their ballot in a voting machine or an electronic pollbook.

Highlights:

 

  • Requires one election official to attend the voting machine, and the other officers to attend the pollbooks and perform the duties of election officials as provided by law (Sec. 1.A).

  • Requires the voting machine to be so placed and protected that it is accessible to only one voter at a time and is in full view of all election officers and observers at the polling place. Any port, plug, door or other method of physical or electronic access to the voting machine or to any electronic pollbook will be secured in a manner to prevent any unauthorized access to the voting machine or electronic pollbook (Sec. 1.B). 

  • Requires the county or other officer in charge of elections will document and verify security procedures regarding access before a voting machine or electronic pollbook is placed into service for an election (Sec. 1.B).

  • Prohibits the door or other compartment of the machine from being unlocked or opened or the counters exposed except for good and sufficient reasons during elections (Sec. 1.C)
