  • Authorizes any person desiring to become a candidate at a primary election to use a post office box as their district or precinct if the person does not have an address or if their address is protected (Sec. 1A).

  • Requires the nomination paper to include the exact manner in which the candidate desires to have their name printed on the official ballot (Sec. 1G).

  • Prohibits nicknames, abbreviated versions, or initials from suggesting reference to professional, fraternal, religious, or military titles (Sec. 1G).

  • Authorizes any person desiring to become a write-in candidate for an elective office to use a post office address as an actual residence address if they do not have an actual residence address (Sec. 2A).

  • Prohibits a filing officer from accepting a nomination paper of a write-in candidate for state or local office if the person is liable for an aggregation of $1,000 or more in fines, penalties, late fees, or administrative or civil judgments (Sec. 2D).

  • Prohibits a candidate for filing if any of the following apply (Sec. 2F):

    • The candidate ran in the immediately preceding primary, in the general election, and failed to be nominated;

    • The candidate filed a nomination petition for the immediately preceding primary, in the general election, and failed to provide a sufficient number of valid petition signatures;

    • The candidate files a nomination petition in the current primary election for the office sought and failed to provide a sufficient number of valid petition signatures; and

    • The candidate filed a nomination petition for nomination other than by primary for the office sought and failed to provide a sufficient number of valid petition signatures.

  • Requires nomination petitions to be captioned “partisan nomination petition” or “nonpartisan nomination petition”, except if the candidate does not have an actual residence address, the candidate may use a post office address (Sec. 3C).
