Vote to pass a bill that authorizes the opening of absentee ballots to check signatures.

Highlights:

• Requires an election clerk or board member to compare the signature on an absentee ballot application with the signature provider on a voter’s affidavit to ensure signature correspondence starting 3 business days before an election (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that if a voter’s signature is found to be insufficient or does not correspond then the vote shall not be allowed to count (Sec. 1).
