Vote to pass a bill that amends the definition of remote education technology infrastructure.

Highlights:

• Defines “education technology infrastructure” as the physical hardware and services used to interconnect students, teachers, school districts, and school buildings necessary to support broadband connectivity and remote learning as determined by the council (Sec. 1).

• Defines “council” as the public school capital outlay council (Sec. 1).

• Requires the council to set minimum adequacy standards and guidelines for the education technology infrastructure deficiency corrections initiative to identify and determine reasonable methods and costs for correcting education technology infrastructure deficiencies in or affecting school districts (Sec. 2).

• Specifies that the aforementioned standards and guidelines shall integrate regional hub locations for network services and the installation and maintenance of equipment for standard remote education technology infrastructure including internet connectivity within a multi-district regional education network (Sec. 2).

• Establishes that this act shall take effect immediately upon passage (Sec. 3).
