Title: Expands Mental Health Services in Schools
Vote to pass a bill that expands mental health services in schools
Requires public schools to designate at least one administrator per school building who can direct students and families towards behavioral health resources (Sec. 1).
Requires the Department of Education to provide mental health first aid trainings to educators, including (Sec. 2):
Information on local mental health centers;
Information on how to de-escalate mental health crises; and
Information on how to recognize signs of mental illness.
Establishes a program to award grants to public schools that show innovation in mental health first aid, early literacy, quality instruction, digital education, or another area (Sec. 3).
