Title: Authorizes Short-Term Vacation Rentals

Vote to concur with house amendments and pass and amend a bill that authorizes short-term vacation rentals.

Highlights:

 

  • Authorizes local cities, towns, and municipalities to issue licenses or permits for short-term vacation rentals, and within guidelines, further allows for the suspension of said permits for up to one year if (Sec. 1-2):

    • 3 verified violations take place within a 12 month period, including aethetic, solid waste disposal, or vehicle parking violations;

    • One verified violation that constitutes a felony offense committed at or in the vicinity of the short-term or vacation rental;

    • Serious physical injury or wrongful death at or related to the short-term or vacation rental; or

    • Knowingly or unknowingly housing a sex offender.

  • Authorizes local cities, towns, and municipalities to impose a civil penalty of up to $1,000 for every 30 days that a property owner fails to provide contact information as required under previous law (Sec. 2).
