Title: Prohibits Gender Affirming Care for Minors

Vote to pass a bill that prohibits gender affirming care for minors.

Highlights:

  • Prohibits doctors from engaging in any of the following producers to change or affirm a minor’s perception of their sex (Sec. 1): 

    • Performing a castration, vasectomy, hysterectomy, oophorectomy, metoidioplasty, orchiectomy, penectomy, phalloplasty, or vaginoplasty;

    • Performing a mastectomy;

    • Removal of otherwise healthy and non diseased tissue or body parts (except in the case of a circumcision); 

    • Prescribe supraphysiologic doses of testosterone to females; or

    • Prescribe supraphysiologic doses of estrogen to males.

  • Prohibits a doctor from prescribing puberty blocking medication to a minor unless they have received mental health counseling for a year and have started puberty (Sec. 1). 

  •  Prohibits a doctor from prescribing, dispensing, administering, or otherwise supplying any drug for the purpose of changing the sex of somebody pre-pubescent, including puberty blocking medication (Sec. 1). 

  •  Classifies the act of performing any of the surgeries listed above, such as the mastectomy and removal of healthy body parts, on a minor as a class B felony (Sec. 1). 

  • Classies other willful violation of this act as an infraction (Sec. 1).
