Title: Authorizes Religious Garb During Physical Exercise Classes
Vote to pass a bill that authorizes religious garb during physical exercise classes.
Prohibits learning institutions or athletic associations from preventing students from wearing the following during athletic activities (Sec. 1):
Religious clothing with the athletic uniform;
Wearing religious clothes under the athletic uniform.
Establishes that student has a right to wear religious clothing during athletic activities in or on school facilities even if athletic uniform is required (Sec. 2).
Specifies that if an educational organization wishes to make modifications to or place requirements on religious garb then it must do so ensuring that it does not violate the child’s religious or moral belief and must be at the organizations expense (Sec. 2).
Specifies that this act goes into effect on July 1st 2023 (Sec. 2).
