Title: Amends Courtroom Provisions and Requirements for Minor Witnesses
Vote to pass a bill that amends courtroom provisions and requirements for minor witnesses.
Amends courtroom provisions and requirements for minors 16 years-old and younger as witnesses in sexual assault, neglect, or abuse cases, including the following accomadations (Sec. 2):
That they be addressed, asked questions, and read the oath or affirmation to testify truthfully in an age-appropriate manner;
Be free of nuisance or harassing tactics in the proceeding;
Have the individual who contributed to the well-being of the minor present, clearly visible, and in close proximity;
Have sufficient breaks in the proceedings to allow comfort; and
Have a certified therapeutic dog, or an item used to provide comfort, or both present in the room with the minor child.
Specifies that this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the governor (Sec. 2).
