Highlights:

  • Amends courtroom provisions and requirements for minors 16 years-old and younger as witnesses in sexual assault, neglect, or abuse cases, including the following accomadations (Sec. 2):

    • That they be addressed, asked questions, and read the oath or affirmation to testify truthfully in an age-appropriate manner;

    • Be free of nuisance or harassing tactics in the proceeding;

    • Have the individual who contributed to the well-being of the minor present, clearly visible, and in close proximity;

    • Have sufficient breaks in the proceedings to allow comfort; and

    • Have a certified therapeutic dog, or an item used to provide comfort, or both present in the room with the minor child.

  • Specifies that this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the governor (Sec. 2).
