Vote to pass a bill that establishes new rules regarding premium tobacco products such as cigars.

Highlights:

• Establishes new rules and taxes regarding premium tobacco products such as cigars, including (Sec. 1):

• If the tobacco products are not premium cigars a tax of 30 percent;

• If the tobacco products are premium cigars a tax of 30 percent of the wholesale price of those products if the wholesale price is;

• Greater than 50 percent for each premium cigar; the tax imposed shall be 50 cents for each premium cigar; or

• Less than 30 cents for each premium cigar, the tax imposed shall be 30 cents for each premium cigar.

• Defines “premium cigar” for the purposes of this bill as a cigar that is rolled by hand, has a wrapper, made of whole tobacco leaves, and does not havea filter or mouthpiece (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect July 1, 2023 and expires by limitation on June 30, 2027 (Sec. 2).
